GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) is officially scheduled to release on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. GTA 6 will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S. The game requires current-generation hardware because of its advanced physics engine (RAGE 9), high-density NPC AI, and the sheer scale of the Leonida map. Last-generation consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) are not supported.

Rockstar has not announced a PC release date for GTA 6. However, based on the history of previous Rockstar titles, a PC version is widely expected:

• GTA 5 launched on PS3/Xbox 360 in Sept 2013, arrived on PC in April 2015 (18 months later)
• Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles in Oct 2018, arrived on PC in Nov 2019 (13 months later)

Based on this pattern, a GTA 6 PC release would likely arrive in late 2027 or 2028 at the earliest.

GTA 6 has been delayed twice from its original target:

• Delay #1: From Fall 2025 → May 26, 2026
• Delay #2: From May 26, 2026 → November 19, 2026

Take-Two Interactive has stated that the November 19, 2026 date is final, and the company has reiterated this position in multiple investor communications.

GTA 6 features two playable protagonists: Lucia and Jason. Lucia is particularly significant as she is the first playable female lead in a mainline Grand Theft Auto title. The story follows the pair as a criminal duo operating in the fictional state of Leonida — Rockstar's reimagining of Florida — in what the studio describes as a modern Bonnie and Clyde narrative.

GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, a massive open world inspired by the state of Florida. At the center of the map is Vice City — the iconic location from GTA Vice City, completely reimagined for modern hardware. Beyond the city, the map includes the Grassrivers (based on the Everglades), the Leonida Keys, and Port Gellhorn. The map is reportedly twice the size of GTA 5's Los Santos, with significantly more explorable interiors.

As of the last update to this page, pre-orders for GTA 6 have not yet opened. Take-Two has indicated that the major marketing push for GTA 6 will begin in Summer 2026, which is when pre-orders are most likely to open. Rockstar Games has not confirmed a price for GTA 6. Given the industry standard for major current-generation titles, the standard edition is expected to be priced at around $69.99 USD — in line with other major PS5 and Xbox Series releases. A premium or special edition may be offered at a higher price point. Official pricing will be confirmed when pre-orders open.

Rockstar has not provided specific details about GTA 6's multiplayer mode yet. However, given the massive success of GTA Online — which has generated billions in revenue since 2013 — it is virtually certain that GTA 6 will include an online multiplayer component. Details are expected to be revealed as part of the marketing push beginning in Summer 2026.
